Skylight
Skylights offer exceptional lighting that regular windows can't duplicate. Installing a skylight in any room will brighten it and give it an open, airy feeling. There are a few things you need to keep in mind when preparing to install a skylight. If you have an attic, for example, you'll need to plan on both a roof and a ceiling penetration.
I'm going to take you step-by-step through the process, and as always you can post questions on our forum. The tools you'll need for this job are pretty simple:

Preparing for a Mess!
At this point, it would be a good idea to lay a large tarp in the room to catch any debris that ends up falling. Make sure it's large enough, not just the size of the skylight. Move any furniture that is even close to where the hole will be.Check the Roof
How you trim out the skylight depends largely on how the drywall was finished. If you finished the corners with corner bead, you don't have to do anything else. You might want to put some wood up near the skylight, if the drywall wasn't as tight a fit as you'd like. I'll quickly walk you through that, then we'll continue with other options.
Wrapping The Skylight
Hopefully you only have to do corners on this drywall job. If your skylight is larger or you had to piece things together, you'll have to do some tapered butt joints. For those instances, just use your small joint knife (about 4 inches wide) and put a 1/8" thick layer along the butt joint. This is the bed that the tape will rest on. Start on one end and press the tape into the bed. Hold that end with one hand and unroll the tape with the other.
