clothes dryer vent question
When my father in law and I moved our washer and dryer to a new location he vented the dryer through the outside wall. Before it was vented up through an inside wall and out the roof. We get alot of cold out side air coming back into the dryer when not in use. Could the way its vented be the problem? The pipe(about 1-1.5 feet long) is straight out the back of the dryer and through the wall and has a termination thats a square cap with flaps that pivot.

That is the normal solution
That is the normal solution (the end cap with a flap on hinges).
You shouldn't get a lot of noticable draft, especially if it is properly terminated at the dryer. Are you just noticing that the dryer is very cold inside, when not in use?
Make sure that the flap does not get stuck open. The vent cap should point downward also, blowing the hot air towards the ground. That's one of those sort of obvious things with shedding rain and all, but I thought I'd mention it just in case. I have seen the flaps stick as well, allowing air to pass easily.
An alternate is a second flap installed dryer side. This is a straight through piece with a flap in the middle that only opens when the dryer blows.
The dryer is just cold
The dryer is just cold inside. It wasnt before we moved it so it made me wonder. I usualy clean the termination or at least check it once a month for clogs and it seems to be ok. If this is normal than Im fine with it.
