I have a 9 year old Alenco window that has cracked and broken trim. Is there any way to replace this trim (inside house) that holds the fixed window in place? I had a contractor tell me today that there was nothing he could do and recommended that we break off the remaining trim and to use a silicon bead of sealent to fix it. This trim has been breaking due to the fact that people forget to open the latch so it clears the trim when sliding the window closed.
