Home Improvement Nightmare?
Does anyone have any home improvement nightmares or successes they would like to share?
I'll have to start offering a discount on my advice in order to generate some traffic. Things have slowed down quite a bit. Of course, I'm already free. lol
respect it AT ALL TIMES!
Since about 1980, I have been involved with several remodeling jobs of my own. In all cases, I have attempted, and usually succeeded, in doing it myself. With the limit of not connecting to the electrical box.
In the last month, having done many changes, I became overconfident.
Replacing a baseboard heater, I was not sure what breaker it was on. So turning on the themostat I waited for heat. Went thru each circuit until, what I THOUGHT, was the right one. Started to disconnect it and ,...yes....sparks flew. No damage to me, other than embarassment.
My next purchase was a $10 tester. Could have been a disaster!
Never do that again
OK, I've got a good one for you. It's a pretty long story, so I'll just point you to my blog and you can read it there. http://home-improvement4u.blogspot.com/
When I cut the ceiling joist over my fireplace to run the vent through the roof I accidentaly cut a small hole through the roof. Didnt know it until it rained the next day. Luckily I hadnt put up the drywall around the enclosure yet but did have to take off the top parts of the vent and re-roof that section. That kinda sucked.
